Ioannis Zampoukis was born in Alexandroupolis and graduated from the Law School in Komotini in 1996. He is a lawyer qualified to practise before Greece’s Supreme Court and Council of State. Before becoming Mayor, he practised law for more than twenty years.
He holds a master’s degree in Bioethics from Democritus University of Thrace and is an accredited mediator of the Greek Ministry of Justice. He served as President of the Alexandroupolis Bar Association from 2014 to 2019 and was first elected Mayor of Alexandroupolis in June 2019.
